Paper Stars is about children in the entertainment industry. Talent agents living vicariously thru their clients. Record companies taking advantage of all parties involved.
Stardom at a young age can rip away a chance at a calm childhood and normal development. In the song, all the kid wants to do is fold origami paper stars but has to face the pressure put upon them by the adults.
This song was partially inspired by my own entry into the music industry, as well as the myriad stories of young people in entertainment.
I started my career in music at 9 years old as the host of a popular web series. After that, it was pedal to the metal for the rest of my teenage years, into my adult life. I did not have a childhood similar to my peers, friends, or neighbors. Today I am grateful for the experiences I've had, but growing up I often felt misunderstood and out of place.
